| Reifenhäuser Kiefel Extrusion - Gaining the Market Leadership with New Technologies |
A landmark merger in the most important extrusion line business area, the blown film market, took place on 24.08.09. |
Troisdorf-based Reifenhäuser GmbH & Co KG Maschinenfabrik has taken over Kiefel Extrusion GmbH in Worms and in doing so has set the course for growth and market leadership in this business field.
With the merger of the two companies Reifenhäuser and Kiefel, organisational measures have to be taken now to bring in line and optimise the Troisdorf and Worms sites. These measures should be completed by the end of 2009. An additional task will be the combination of the technologies of the two companies.
Upon customer request, "Filmtech lines" will be supplied by Reifenhäuser Extrusion also in the future and Kirion lines by Kiefel. Customers will be able to draw added value generated by the group of companies from the combination of both technologies: It is planned to design a line that combines the strengths of the previous designs making it a best-of-two line.
According to Edgar Gandelheidt, managing director of Reifenhäuser Kiefel Extrusion, "the synergies becoming possible through the merger have even exceeded the expectations of both companies." He explains that the target of gaining the unequivocal leadership in the international blown film market is ambitious but also "in close reach" of the company.
The new line concepts and further optimisations of machine components, line control systems and process technologies are scheduled to be presented to the global market in 2010. "It is our target to show our novelties at K2010. This is the appropriate platform", says Ulrich Reifenhäuser.
