Federal Economics Minister zu Guttenberg visits Reifenhäuser on the apprenticeship day

The Economics Minister zu Guttenberg used the day of apprenticeship to visit Reifenhäuser. In discussions with the company CEOs he expressed his confidence about the future development.

VIP visit on occasion of an important event: The day of apprenticeship on May 14, is a meaningful date nationwide since the development of Germany as an economic venue and qualified junior staff required for this in all areas play a central role.

Accompanied by prominent visitors, Economics Minister Dr. Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg sought at first the dialogue with Reifenhäuser's apprentices who presented their vocational training workshop and explained their different apprenticeships. This enabled the Minister to gain a detailed insight into the seven professions for which Reifenhäuser offers in the current year 43 apprentices "to learn their trades" - and much more - through a vocational training programme the quality of which has been awarded many times already.

"The medium-sized businesses form our backbone. This is represented by Reifenhäuser in an exemplary manner. The country banks on companies like yours," said zu Guttenberg addressing the responsible managers. He praised the motivation and commitment of the young people, vocational trainers and management. "The future belongs to those who are farsighted enough to train and those who aren't must not complain later on."

After extensive discussions with the junior employees, Minister zu Guttenberg sought the dialogue with the directors of the Reifenhäuser Group and emphasized the national and international importance of vocational training for Germany as an industrial venue. Ulrich Reifenhäuser expressed his pleasure about the Economics Minister's visit also in the following discussions with press, television and broadcasting media representatives.

"The visit is of high symbolic importance to us. On the one hand, it honours our achievements and successes in vocational training and on the other hand, the Minister emphasized the central function of medium-sized family-run companies like Reifenhäuser which continue to be the pillars of the German economy. We are pleased about the visit and the signal it sends in these times of difficult economical frame conditions for the German mechanical engineering industry."

Bernd Reifenhäuser's statement in a dialogue with the Minister was that "in the future we will perform both our tasks as an employer and our functions in the global marketplaces with high commitment and a high degree of innovation."

Machinery made in Germany will emerge from the crisis stronger than before. "Reifenhäuser's know-how is needed worldwide, and it starts with vocational training", said the Minister to conclude his visit.

And this is what Reifenhäuser feels committed to also in the future. Despite the crisis and the difficult economical situation the company has employed seven new apprentices at its Troisdorf site to start their vocational training in August this year.
